Abstract

Class 11 notes Catering is derived from the word 'cater' which means to serve. The literal meaning of catering is to provide food and beverage (drinks) service. Similarly, a catering industry is a hospitality industry providing food, drinks and service to a benefited customer with an objective to satisfy its customers and meet their objective (requirements) at all times. The main function of catering establishment is to prepare various food and drinks and serve them to the concerned in the appropriate hospitable manner.
